Pepperdine offers a great start to fall with karaoke, pool parties, and lots more!
We’ve been spending a little more time in Malibu lately, and we’re definitely not complaining about it. DJ Keelez & Associates kicked off a series of events at Pepperdine University this fall, starting with two very different nights: karaoke and a pool party.
First up was karaoke, and I genuinely wasn’t sure what to expect. Karaoke can go one of two ways. Sometimes everyone wants to watch but nobody wants to be the first person to grab the mic. Other times, you quickly realize you should have booked a longer event.
Pepperdine was definitely the second one.
Once the students started singing, the signup list just kept growing. We had everything from people confidently taking the stage on their own to groups of friends getting up there together, and the crowd was completely into it. By the time we reached the end of the night, we still had students waiting for their turn. We literally ran out of time before we ran out of people who wanted to sing.
A week later, we were back at Pepperdine for a pool party and got to experience a completely different side of campus life. Instead of managing a growing list of karaoke singers, this time it was all about creating the right soundtrack for everyone hanging out by the pool. It was relaxed, fun, and one of those events where you get to read the crowd and let the music move naturally with the night.

Both events were a blast, and they’ve been a great start to our time working with Pepperdine. One of the things I love about university events is how different every event can be. Karaoke requires one kind of energy, a pool party requires another, and being able to switch between the two is part of what makes this work so much fun.
And we’re not done in Malibu yet. DJ Keelez & Associates will be back at Pepperdine for Blue & Orange Madness, and after the reception we’ve gotten from the students so far, we’re really looking forward to the next one!
